Cybersecurity Engineer

Location: Bridgewater,, New Jersey

Employment Type: 1-year Contract

We are currently supporting a leading global organisation in their search for an experienced Cybersecurity Engineer to join their team on a contract basis. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a dynamic environment, ensuring the ongoing protection and resilience of critical systems, data, and networks.

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining secure network infrastructures, as well as developing robust strategies to mitigate cyber threats across the enterprise.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, implement, manage, monitor, and upgrade security measures to safeguard data, systems, and networks.
  • Coordinate with vendor technical support to resolve complex issues and assist in planning system upgrades.
  • Assess security advisories and vulnerabilities, developing appropriate mitigation strategies.
  • Advise business teams on best practices for threat mitigation across areas such as Perimeter Security, CASB, Application Security, Core Systems, EDR, Cloud, and SIEM.
  • Implement and manage security tools, including firewalls, VPNs, IPS/IDS, and web proxies.
  • Monitor network traffic and analyse potential security threats.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, user guides, and security processes.
  • Identify and automate repetitive or time-consuming processes.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to embed security measures into business operations.
  • Prepare reports and presentations on security assessments and findings.
  • Provide training and guidance on security best practices to technical and non-technical staff.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
  • 4–8 years’ hands-on experience in cybersecurity, covering security operations, incident response, and use of security tools.
  • Strong knowledge of network protocols, security frameworks, IAM, and system administration.
  • Expert understanding of perimeter, endpoint, and cloud security controls.
  • Practical experience with switching, routing, VPN technologies, and wireless networks.
  • Proficiency in SIEM systems, vulnerability scanning tools, EDR solutions, firewalls, antivirus, and DLP.
  • Solid grasp of Windows and UNIX operating systems.
  • Basic scripting skills in PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex issues to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Up-to-date awareness of cybersecurity trends, tools, and emerging threats.
