Job Description

Operations Manager - Events

Easy Day Sports is a dynamic active lifestyle company specializing in innovative fitness experiences and premier, professionally managed endurance sports events. Our culture is fun and confident, inspired by the motto: “The only easy day was yesterday.” We are committed to superior event production and excellence in everything we do.

We’re seeking a proactive communicator and problem-solver who thrives in fast-paced environments and takes ownership of on-the-ground execution while supporting the broader event vision. This individual represents the Easy Day brand both professionally and personally, embodying our core values.

Primary Responsibilities

The Operations Manager will lead the planning and hands-on execution of impactful endurance events (running and cycling), typically with 5,000+ participants. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys rolling up their sleeves and managing strategy, logistics, and problem-solving with precision.

  • Collaborate with local municipalities to secure permits and coordinate with police, fire, and city services. Ensure compliance with insurance requirements and develop contingency plans.
  • Lead and direct labor crews, event coordinators, and assistants; mentor interns as needed. Serve as Race Director when required.
  • Coordinate all operational logistics, including venue setup, freight, equipment rentals, power, restrooms, fencing, and parking.
  • Manage vendor relationships, ensuring timelines, expectations, and service standards are met. Oversee rentals, deliveries, and cleanup crews.
  • Implement safety measures, including medical coverage, on-site security, and emergency preparedness, ensuring compliance with internal protocols and industry standards.
  • Manage audio, radio, and course communications to ensure operational clarity.
  • Serve as the primary contact for staff communications related to travel, briefings, and operational meetings.
  • Support course and venue logistics by working with race directors and course designers to implement water stations, course vehicles, traffic equipment, and shuttle services.
  • Coordinate with local businesses, residents, and civic organizations to foster community engagement and minimize disruptions.
  • Collaborate with Marketing and Customer Service teams to align operational logistics with brand messaging, athlete experience, and partner activations.
  • Work with supervisors to meet or exceed budget goals; manage the operations portion of event budgets and coordinate vendor payments.
  • Be a utility player—willing to take on additional assignments that support the company’s entrepreneurial culture.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate is highly organized, proactive, and experienced in live event operations. They possess strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to remain calm under pressure. A flexible, team-first attitude and a passion for enhancing participant experiences are essential.

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Minimum 2 years of experience managing and executing events from start to finish
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strategic thinker with creative problem-solving abilities
  • Budget management experience
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and juggle multiple tasks with a positive attitude
  • Self-motivated with strong time management and organizational skills
  • Results-driven with a sense of urgency to exceed expectations
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; professional demeanor
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Smartsheet, and project management platforms
  • Able to work outdoors for extended periods, lift up to 45 pounds, drive a 28’ box truck, operate a pallet jack, and manually set up event equipment
  • Willingness to travel and work weekends and extended hours as needed

Salary Range: $65-$80K depending on experience.
