Job Summary

These positions will each develop one to three for-credit courses for the College of Law's upcoming online Master of Science in Law program.

Minimum Qualifications
General Requirements:

  • Advanced degree (JD, PhD, or equivalent) in law, computer science or a related field
  • Expertise in one or more of the following areas: privacy law, AI and technology law, legal technology
  • Experience designing or teaching online courses, preferably for professional or continuing education audiences.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a remote environment.
Preferred Qualifications:



  • Professional experience in law, tech, or corporate settings.
  • Published scholarship or industry recognition in relevant fields.
  • Experience teaching or lecturing in online or hybrid formats.
  • Ability to commit to long-term engagement as a lecturer or program contributor.
Preferred Expertise for Multi-Course Development:



  • Privacy and Data Protection: Deep knowledge of global privacy laws (e.g., GDPR, CCPA), AI privacy issues, and cybersecurity; ability to develop Privacy Law, AI and Information Privacy, and Law and Data Privacy. Certifications (e.g., CIPP/US, CIPT) a plus.

  • AI and Technology Law: Expertise in AI ethics, governance, and legal applications, with familiarity in legal theory; ability to develop AI: Past, Present, and Future, AI and Information Privacy, and Technology and Jurisprudence.

  • Legal Technology: Practical experience in e-discovery, legal research tools, or tech literacy for lawyers; ability to develop Computer Literacy and the Law and E-Discovery.


The University of Illinois College of Law invites applications for positions for Adjunct Professors to begin in October 2025, with some flexibility on start dates. The College welcomes applications from scholars or expert practitioners who can develop or offer instruction for an online MSL program currently under development, which is targeted at mid-career professionals in business, tech, and related areas. The College is interested in candidates with expertise in the following areas: AI & Privacy, Cybersecurity, Law & Tech, Business Law, Employment Law, and Ethics, Compliance & Corporate Governance.

Appointment Information


This is a 100% full-time Academic position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after 10/16/2025.

Adjunct salaries range widely on campus. These are 5-15% positions. Similar positions on campus can make between $3,500-$18,000, depending on myriad factors, such as number of classes developed and number of credit hours taught.
